CASTELLABATE

Cilento is stunning, and Castellabate is its symbol:

its beaches and its sea have been awarded the prestigious "Blue Flag" by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) for over twenty years, and the historic centre of Castellabate has been declared a "World Heritage Site" by UNESCO.

The heart of Castellabate, the main town, dates back to the 11th century and lies on a hill sloping down towards the sea, with its castle overlooking a coast that is among the most striking and naturalistically best preserved of the region, home to the Marine Protected Area of the same name.

Santa Maria, where Casa Sul Corso is located, is the most densely populated hamlet, it lies in a peaceful position on the sea and, with its clubs, restaurants, bathing establishments and shops, it is the beating heart of life in the surrounding area, allowing you to savour the typical Italian lifestyle while indulging in an espresso or an aperitif by the sea.

In Santa Maria, there are buildings of historical and cultural importance, such as the Torre dellaPagliarola, the maritime landing place of Porta delleGatte, Villa Matarazzo, places that are some of the most frequently photographed and shared online in the whole of Campania.

San Marco is another hamlet by the sea, smaller than Santa Maria. It has some of the most beautiful beaches in the municipality, as well as a small harbour where in summer the hydrofoils that connect Castellabate with many towns on the Cilento Coast, the Amalfi Coast and Capri dock.

Finally, Ogliastro Marina and Licosa, the twin hamlets, bathed by the clearest sea you can imagine, are immersed in the Mediterranean maquis and represent the ideal destination for walks that bring everything back into perspective, as well as being the refuge of romantics, those in search of absolute peace and anyone who deeply loves nature.

It is nestled between Cape Palinuro, the last dwelling of Aeneas' helmsman, and Paestum, the place where the best-preserved temples in all of Magna Graecia are located, not far from the islet of Licosa and the promontory of the same name where, according to Homer, lived a siren who was able to bewitch Ulysses...
